Marshall A's to face Military All-Stars Sunday
The Marshall A's will be hosting an exhibition game against the U.S. Military All-Star team at 6 p.m. Sunday at Legion Field.
The U.S. Military All-Stars travel the country, consisting of veterans and active soldiers.
Tickets will go for $6 for adults and $4 for students and can be purchased at the gate.
A raffle will also be held at the game, with proceeds going towards the Wounded Warrior fund, benefitting soldiers injured in defense of our country.
SMSU golfers named to All-America Scholar Team
Three Southwest Minnesota State golfers - freshman Abby Gruber, junior Haley Gudim and sophomore Rachel Patnoe - have been selected to the National Golf Coaches Association's All-America Scholar Team for Division II.
Gudim and Patnoe won the award for the second time in their collegiate careers.
Gruber finished the year with a 3.57 grade point average in elementary education. She finished the year with an 87.5 scoring average and tied for 33rd at the NCAA Central Region Championship this spring.
Gudim had a 3.68 GPA in exercise science, and shot an average round of 90.8 in 18 rounds this season.
Patnoe finished with a 4.0 GPA in biology, and shot an average of 86.2 this year, taking three top-10 finishes and taking 22nd at the Central Region Championship.
SMSU softball to conduct two clinics
The Southwest Minnesota State softball team has announced a pair of dates - July 13 and July 20 - for summer softball clinics.
The clinics will be held at Mustang Field on the SMSU campus.
Each day, a clinic for players grades 2-6 will be held from 9-10 a.m., and a clinic for players grades 7-12 will go from 10 a.m.-noon. Each clinic will teach hitting, throwing progression, infield/outfield defense, base running and game situations.
