Schuneman hires

Meyer-Thovson

Schuneman Equipment Co. has added to its pool of employees.

Kari Meyer-Thovson joined the organization in July as the Turf & Commercial Work Site sales representative. Meyer-Thovson has an 11 year career history of customer service and hospitality. She has extensive experience and success at outbound cold calling and fund raising solicitation. Meyer-Thovson will continue to live in Canby.

Pabst elected to state, national offices

Dr. Roger Pabst, optometrist, Avera Medical Group Optometry, was recently elected to two offices in professional optometry organizations.

He was named board chairman of the Minnesota Board of Optometry at the organization's July meeting. This licensing agency for the practice of optometry is responsible for granting and renewing licenses for optometrists who demonstrate competence in their profession, ensuring that all licensed optometrists meet the educational and practical requirements specified in law, and setting standards for quality optometric health care.

Pabst has also been elected vice president of The Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry. The ARBO is a national association that represents and assists state, provincial and territorial boards of optometry in regulating optometry practices. This association offers national accreditation and tracking of continuing education courses and maintains a national directory of optometry boards and a database of United States optometrists.

Pabst has worked as an optometrist in the Redwood Falls area for 37 years. He was one of the owners of the former PBR Optical in Redwood Falls, Windom, Mountain Lake, Springfield and Tracy. He joined the Avera Medical Group in March 2010. In addition to seeing patients in Redwood Falls, he also provides care in Mountain Lake, Springfield and Tracy.

The Avera Medical Group provides ophthalmology and optometry care at locations in Marshall, Redwood Falls, Windom, Mountain Lake, Springfield and Tracy and outreach eye care in Montevideo, Slayton, Granite Falls, Madison and Tyler.

Miller presents at farm business managers conference

Miller Legal Strategic Planning Centers was honored this month when founding attorney Scott Miller was asked to present at the National Farm Business Management Conference on July 10-14 in Bloomington. Miller presented his trademarked Farm Succession/Transition Planning Wheel and case analysis on different succession and transition strategies.

He outlined estate planning tools used that are designed to help clients achieve farm succession given their individual circumstances and goals.

The National Farm Business Management Conference is an annual event co-sponsored by the National Farm and Ranch Business Management Association and the National Association of Farm Business Analysis Specialists. The members of these two organizations work with farm families throughout the United States on farm accounting, business analysis, financial modeling, business organization, tax planning and preparation, farm transition, crop and livestock production and all other aspects of farm business management.

There are about 250 members of these two organizations working with more than 10,000 farms and ranches.
