To the editor:
Woke up on Saturday, September 1, to find several planters destroyed and a heart shaped iron rod planter missing from our yard.
The worst damage was the discovery that our orange Vote NO Don't Limit the Freedom to Marry sign had been burned. After reporting our findings to the police, we immediately put up another sign.
We disagree with this amendment in part because as this incident demonstrates so well, we believe this is a message of collusion that creates an environment where some people believe it is not only permissible but also justified to act out violently in senseless acts of cowardice.
We will continue to work diligently to defeat the constitutional amendment limiting the freedom to marry. Please join us in encouraging others to vote NO this NOvember.
Treating others as you wish to be treated is a community value we believe most of us can agree on. Let's seek to protect our most basic freedoms including to peacefully and respectfully express our opinions.
