On burning ban: What’s good for the state …

September 11, 2012
Marshall Independent

To the editor:

Lyon County, the State of Minnesota has a burning ban, yet Minneota allows various fires any time, any place just to appease certain "pyros."

The people that wax nostalgic now won't do so when their property taxes and homeowners insurance rise. And when a house or trailer house catches on fire, fire will spread quickly down/up the line. It's only a matter of time. I'm sure the coroner will be enthused when he/she has to try to identify the charred remains of a child or children; when this could be prevented by enforcing village ordinances as originally written.

Who will be responsible? The village council, the police department or the whole town!
