SUN PRAIRIE - Services for Jerry Allen Popowski, 56, are at 11 a.m. Friday at Living Water Church, 3075 Prospect Drive, Sun Prairie, Wis. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Delton Cemetery in Lake Delton, Wis.
He died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012.
Jerry was born Nov. 18, 1955, in Hendricks to Edward and Donna (Sovell) Popowski. Jerry earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and a master of hospital administration from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management in Minnesota in 1987. He was a lifelong learner and supporter of higher education and completed additional courses through the Wisconsin Executive Education through Strategic Leadership Institute.
Jerry started working in the health care field as an accountant and was quickly promoted to hospital administrator in Olivia. He was quite proud of serving that same community as an EMT for seven years. He went on to be employed with three health care systems as the chief executive officer of five hospitals and specialized in hospital turn around management. In the last phase of his career, Jerry was the CEO of FABOH Fond Du Lac Area Business on Health for 11 years prior to becoming the current network director for United Health's Evercare Program in Wauwatosa.
In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed boating, exercising, and golf. He was proud to have earned his VFR pilots license while working in Sault Ste Marie Michigan. He was a past member of the Fond Du Lac Rotary club and various other Rotary clubs in the area. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
Jerry will always be remembered as a cherished husband, father and grandfather, avid storyteller, someone who enjoyed life with great passion and who always loved to live each day to its fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; four children, Mandy (and Casey) Starin, Jennifer (and Marc) Bazzanella, Jered Popowski and Kelsey Popowski (and Jeron Scanlan); two stepchildren, Ashley and Aaron Thompson; five grandchildren, Ethan, Alexa, Landon, Isabella and Adalyn and his brother, Donald (and Marcie) Popowski.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
