Edwin Jules was born Jan. 6, 1926, to Jules and Sophie (Loke) Dirckx in Amiret. After graduating from Marshall High School in 1943, Edwin joined the United States Navy, proudly serving our country during WWII. After his tour, he came back to Marshall and was united in marriage to Louise Spitzer at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church; the couple recently celebrated 66 years together. Edwin made a 34-year career of carrying mail for the United States Postal Service. Edwin's passions were hunting and fishing. He hunted all of his life; even deer hunting last fall at the age of 85. He spent many hours on lakes Ida and Pickerel. He loved to watch football. Above all he always put family first.
His smile that could light up a room will be sadly missed by his wife, Louise; children, Sharon (and Jim) Babel of Glenwood, Paulette (and Pat) Dero of Lynd, Becky (and John) Smith of McKinney, Texas, Deb (and Dave) Stene of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Cindy (and Mike) Welu of Milroy; sisters, Shirlee Bailey of Marshall and Gerri Kerkvliet of Bryant, S.D.; sister-in-law, Jean Dirckx; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fran Dirckx.
