REDWOOD FALLS - Services for Harlan George "Butch" Otto, 95, of Redwood Falls were Oct. 14 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service. Military honors were provided by the Redwood Falls American Legion Honor Guard. A private family burial will take place at a later date. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association of Echo & Wabasso are handling the arrangements for the family.

He died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the Good Samaritan-Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls.

He was born Aug, 16, 1917, to George and Mary (Stern) Otto in Redwood Falls. On Jan. 6, 1941, his National Guard unit was called to active duty service. He trained in California, and spent the first few years of World War II in Kodiak, Alaska, before finishing his service in Chicago. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

Survivors include his best friend and companion, Juanita Horn; children, Mary Norris of Mankato, Kathy Dugan of Wilmington, Del., George of Bloomington, Muriel Steinhauer of Redwood Falls, Judy Diehl of Morris and Tim of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; sisters, Charlotte Barker of Denver, Colo. and Theresa Sanders of Orange, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
