To the editor:
My name is Angie Peters. I am the owner and CEO of Barwick Mfg. Co. Inc. and a co-owner of Heartland Electric, Inc. in Montevideo. This letter is being written in regards to the MERIT Center and Amateur Sports Center in Marshall.
As I learn about the MERIT Center and Amateur Sports Center, it appears to be such an amazing opportunity for the city of Marshall. To have such wonderful facilities in your community is an all around good decision.
Although my family resides in Montevideo, we do find ourselves in Marshall often. I have been there to meet family from southwest Minnesota for dinner. It's a great "meeting" point. I also had the opportunity to purchase a new road bike from the The Bike Shop, a wonderful store that you are lucky to have on your Main Street. Our children are athletes, and that has brought us to Marshall many times over the past few years for their competitions. We have also been in Marshall for summer basketball camps at the University, as well as academic events such as science and writing fairs.
The community of Marshall is an asset to those of us that live in smaller communities in the surrounding area. It allows us to enjoy all your city has to offer without having to drive too far. Please continue to consider the future of your city by the prospects of how the MERIT Center and the Amateur Sports Center can only help for it to continue to thrive.
