TRACY - Services for Annola "Nook" Pagel, 94, are at 11 a.m. Saturday with visitation one hour prior to service, Tracy Area Funeral Home, Tracy. Burial is at the Amiret Cemetery. Following burial a luncheon will be provided at the funeral home.
She died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in Morris.
Annola was born Dec. 31, 1917, to Herman and Laura (Saathoff) Dunteman in Amiret Township, Lyon County. She attended grade school in Amiret and graduated from Tracy High School. Annola was married to William Pagel on Feb. 5, 1935. After farming in the Amiret area for a number of years, they began racing harness horses in the 1950s. After racing throughout Minnesota, Iowa, Canada, the Dakotas and eastern United States, they retired in 1989 to Geff, Ill. After William died in 1990 Annola lived in Geff, Ill., and then Norco, Calif. She moved to the Grandview Apartments in Morris in 2004 and in 2011 moved to West Wind Village in Morris.
Survivors include her daughters Muriel Nelson, Minnetonka, Lilyne Senn, Norco, Calif.; sons Leslie "Bud" (and Betty) Pagel, Brainerd, Wayne (and Darla) Pagel, St. Louis Park, Dan (and Linda) Pagel, Morris; daughter-in-law Joyce Pagel, Geff, Ill.; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; sisters Rosalyn Zvorak, Cold Spring, Laureen Harris, Cloquet, and sister-in-law Barbara Stromswold, Mankato; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons William, John and Dale, brother Gerald, sister Viona, sons-in-law Kenneth Nelson and Victor Senn.
