NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Mass of Christian Burial for George S. Qunell, 77, of Naperville, Ill., since 1969, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Residence, 1400 Brookdale Road, Naperville. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, Ill., 60540. Additional visitation is from 9-10 a.m. Friday, St. Patrick's Residence. Burial is at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Patrick's Residence, Naperville.

He died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at St. Patrick's Residence, Naperville.

He was born Oct. 30, 1934, in Grandview Township.

George grew up in Cottonwood and Marshall. He farmed before going to work for many years with Western-Cullen-Hayes, Inc., Chicago, a company serving the railroad industry. George enjoyed refurbishing antique cars and was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Naperville.

Beloved father of Laurie Qunell of Lisle, Ill., Gwen (and Terry) Tracy of Louisville, Ky., Jackie (and Steve) Smith of Oswego, Ill., and Darren (and Mimi) Qunell of Naperville; adored grandfather of Shannon and Joshua Leland; Wyatt and Bryce Sutton; Brittany and Travis Tracy; Nicole Suk; Samuel, Elly and Jon Qunell; cherished great-grandfather of Brennon Aidan, Nate and Joseph Leland; devoted son of the late Ovid and Cecilia (nee Gregoire) Qunell; dear brother of Joan (and the late Francis) Polfliet of Marshall, Janet (and Ed) McFarlin of Slayton, Joyce Redding of Marshall and the late Gloria (and Dennis) Vien, Jean (Joseph) Clark and Robert Qunell; fond uncle of many; and former spouse of Lucille Qunell.
