Southwest Minnesota State's Kyle Begin had four pins at 165 pounds to win the White Division (freshmen) at the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragon Open Saturday in Moorhead. The Mustangs had five other wrestlers place on the day.
Begin, who was wrestling unattached, pinned four wrestlers in four matches on his way to winning the title in his division.
In the Red Division (upper classmen), SMSU's Justin Reinsma took second place at 133 pounds, while Ethan Hildebrandt was fourth at 141 pounds and Micah Larson was third at 197 pounds. Reinsma earned two wins by decision, after receiving a first-round bye, to advance to the championship match, where he fell to North Dakota State's Justin Schekenback in a 5-3 decision.
Competing in the White Division, Beau Buysse took second at 149 pounds, and fellow Minneota graduate Travis Longtin placed sixth at 165 pounds. Buysse earned two wins by decision and one by technical fall before falling to Augustana's Jacob Anderson in the championship match at 149 pounds.
The Mustangs will have their first home dual of the season on Wednesday when they host another Mustang team, Morningside College, with the match starting at 7 p.m. in the PE Gym.
