CHASKA - Services for Jerry Dean Filter, 61, of Chaska is at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Crown of Glory Lutheran Church, 1141 Cardinal St., Chaska. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with the Bertas Funeral Home of Chaska. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
Jerry died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, of cancer at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis surrounded by family.
Jerry was born March 3, 1951, in Marshall, one of seven children. He was a graduate of Tracy High School in 1969.
On Sept. 24, 1983, Jerry married Jeanne Larson in Willmar. They had two sons.
Jerry served in the United States Air Force for eight years and was also a graduate of Willmar Vo-Tech in auto technology. Jerry was that "go to person" if you needed any help.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne; sons, Jonathon of Lakeville and Joseph of Chaska; grandson, Logan; parents, Lawrence and Blanche Filter of Marshall; siblings, Bonita (and Mark) Meyer of Brandon, S.D., Lawrence Jr. (and Michelle) Filter of Worthington, LeeAnn (and Steve) Buysse of Marshall, Douglas (and Kemper) Filter of Crystal and Hope (and Jesse) Christianson of Ghent; mother-in-law, Joan (and Jack) Larson of Willmar; brother-in-law, Mark (and Kris) Larson of Coon Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and beloved dog Jenny.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Monica, and father-in-law, Orv Larson.
