REDWOOD FALLS - Services for Urban "Judge" Fischer, 92, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Morgan, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial is in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service - Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
He died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the Redwood Area Hospital.
He was born Oct. 23, 1920, on the family farm near Morgan, to Albert "A.C." and Ursula (Braunger) Fischer. He was drafted in the U.S. Army on July 9, 1942, and served as a heavy truck driver in Normandy, northern France, and central Europe during WWII. He received his honorable discharge Nov. 10, 1945.
Survivors include his children, Tom of Minneapolis, Cheryl Pool of Palm Desert, Calif., Glenn of Redwood Falls, Denise Kerkhoff of Redwood Falls, and Mark of Redwood Falls; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ruth Doherty of New Prague, Ralph of Olivia, Clair of Morgan, and Alice Steffl of New Ulm.
