Tiger gymnasts finish 6th at Mankato East

Marshall Independent

Two days after its first competition of the season, the Marshall gymnastics team was back in action Saturday at the Mankato East Invitational.

The Tigers took sixth place out of six teams with 103.35 points, improving on their season-opening team score of 101.475. Minnetonka won the event with a score of 134.075, followed by West East (130.775), New Ulm (128.9), St. Peter (113.45) and host Mankato East (109.025).

Marshall head coach Lindsay Wolff said the Tigers had hoped to do a little better, but were competing under somewhat difficult circumstances.

"It's hard to have back-to-back meets. We had one day in between, but unfortunately we didn't get to practice because the equipment wasn't all set up," she said. "That kind of hurt us a little bit, not getting in the gym and going through our routines. We knew there was some good competition there, but we went out and our goal was to improve on what we scored on Thursday and we improved by almost two points, so we were proud of that."

Freshmen Natalie Rademacher and Meg Ellis had the top all-around scores for Marshall, posting a 27.7 and 27.55, respectively. Eighth-grader Nicole Deragisch had an all-around score of 23.975, and Hailey Aguirre, also an eighth-grader, had a score of 22.775.

Rademacher had the top score for the team in the uneven bars, posting a 6.825. It was an area that helped the Tigers improve their team score from last meet.
