The Minneota Vikings took fourth place among eight teams competing at the Frazee Les Kertscher Dual Invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday, going 1-2 in dual competition.
The Vikings opened the day facing Perham (ranked No. 12 in AA) in the quarterfinals and earned a 45-21 victory. They then lost to Foley, the third ranked team in Class AA, by the score of 40-24.
It was another tough foe for the Vikings in the third-place match, where eighth-ranked Minneota took on fifth-ranked Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Area. The Knights got the better of the Vikings in the matchup, winning 34-21.
Three Minneota wrestlers went undefeated on Saturday. Brock Buysse earned a pin and two decisions at 106 pounds. At 132 pounds, Minneota's Bryce Bruner earned a pin, a win by decision and a win by forfeit. Isaac Josephson, the fifth-ranked wrestler in Class A at 170 pounds, also went 3-0. He won by decision in his opening match at 182 pounds, then won by forfeit when the Vikings faced Foley, and finally won in a 3-1 decision over LC-WM's Davantay Corey, the 10th-ranked wrestler at 160 pounds, in a 170-pound match.
