MARSHALL - Victor Pedro Alonso, 24, of Cottonwood, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Dec. 18 to charges of third degree driving while impaired, no insurance and hit and run, court records said. Alonso drove while impaired and struck another vehicle in Lyon County on Nov. 3, court records said. Alonso was sentenced to one year in jail with 335 days stayed and two years probation with conditions including serve 30 days in jail with credit for six days already served and abstain from alcohol and drugs. Additional charges of driving without a Minnesota license, speeding and third degree driving while impaired were dismissed.

MARSHALL - Brett Gerald Jasperson, 26, of Minneota, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 19 on charges of second degree driving while impaired - refusal to test and third degree driving while impaired. A complaint alleges Jasperson refused to take an alcohol test in Lyon County on Oct. 19 and had a prior DWI conviction in 2006. A hearing was set for Jan. 2. Bail was set at $12,000 without conditions, or with conditions including abide by laws, abstain from alcohol and drugs and do not enter bars or liquor stores.

MARSHALL - Michael Dean Giese, 57, of Tracy, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 19 on two counts of third degree driving while impaired charges and charges of careless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign and improper lighting. A complaint alleges Giese drove a motorcycle while impaired in Tracy on Aug. 31. A hearing was set for Jan. 2. Bail was set at $12,000 without conditions, or with conditions including abide by laws, abstain from alcohol and drugs and do not enter bars or liquor stores.

MARSHALL - Jason Branden Johnson, 33, of Minneota, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 19 on charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime - liability for crimes of another and possession of drug paraphernalia - liability for crimes of another. A complaint alleges Johnson or an accomplice was growing or manufacturing marijuana in Lyon County on June 23. A hearing was set for Jan. 2. Bail was set at $15,000 without conditions, or with conditions including abide by laws, abstain from alcohol and drugs and be subject to random testing.
