MARSHALL - Debra Kay Porter, 39, of Marshall, pleaded guilty to amended charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime in Lyon County District Court Dec. 17, court records said. Porter possessed methamphetamines in Marshall in Aug. 2011, court records said. Porter received a stayed sentence of 15 months in prison and seven years probation with conditions including serve 180 days in jail with credit for 132 days served, pay $240 restitution and abstain from alcohol and drugs. Charges of third degree controlled substance crime were dismissed.

MARSHALL - Christina Beth Galea, 47, of Ruthton, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Dec. 17 to amended charges of third degree driving while impaired and open bottle, court records said. Galea drove with an alcohol level of .297 in Lyon County on Aug. 17 and had a prior DWI conviction in 2010, court records said. Galea was sentenced to one year in jail with 315 days stayed, pay an $800 fine and two years probation with conditions including serve 50 days in jail with credit for five days served and abstain from alcohol and drugs. Charges of second degree driving while impaired and driving without a valid license were dismissed.

MARSHALL - Chad Duane Friedrichs, 35, of Minneota, pleaded innocent in Lyon County District Court Dec. 18 to charges of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, two counts of fourth degree driving while impaired charges, reckless driving and fleeing a peace officer. A complaint alleges Friedrichs drove with an alcohol level of .19, and fled from a traffic stop in Lyon County on April 5. A jury trial was set for March 13-14, with a backup date of Aug. 28-29. A pretrial hearing was set for March 8.

MARSHALL - Tara Lynne Johnson, 34, of Minneota, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 19 on charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime - liability for crimes of another, and possession of drug paraphernalia - liability for crimes of another. A complaint alleges Johnson or an accomplice grew or manufactured marijuana in Lyon County on June 23. A hearing was set for Jan. 2. Bail was set at $15,000 without conditions or with conditions including abide by laws, abstain from alcohol and drugs, and do not enter bars and liquor stores.

MARSHALL - Kamal Cherqaoui Kehelaouinet, 39, of Marshall, entered an Alford plea in Lyon County District Court Dec. 19 to charges of selling a synthetic cannabinoid, court records said. A complaint alleged Kehelaouinet sold synthetic marijuana to an undercover officer in Marshall on April 4.

By entering an Alford plea, Kehelaouinet maintains that he is innocent of criminal charges but admits that there is enough evidence that a jury would be likely to convict him in a trial. Kehelaouinet received a stay of adjudication of two years and two years probation with conditions including complete 120 hours of Sentenced to Service and allow random checks by of his business by law enforcement.

MARSHALL - Wendell Buck Burnett, 18, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 26 on charges of possession of stolen property - liability for crimes of another. A complaint alleges Burnett or an accomplice possessed and tried to pawn a stolen ring valued at $2,000 in Marshall on Oct. 11. A hearing was set for Jan. 8. Bail was set at $10,000 without conditions, or with conditions including abide by laws, have no contact with the alleged victims and stay 100 yards away from their residences.

MARSHALL - Brittany Anne Juarez, 28, of Balaton, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 26 on charges of check forgery. A complaint alleges Juarez forged checks totaling more than $100 in Balaton in June and July. A hearing was set for Jan. 8. Bail was set at $6,000 without conditions, or with conditions including abide by laws, have no contact with the alleged victim and stay 100 yards away from their residence.

MARSHALL - Lester Corey Bates, 35, of Ghent, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 26 on charges of first degree criminal property damage. A complaint alleges Bates caused more than $600 in damage to a television and computer in a Marshall residence on Sept. 8 and had a prior criminal property damage conviction in 2009. A hearing was set for Jan. 22.
