Area boys basketball

RRC 52, MCC 26

Red Rock Central senior center Henry Rogotzke scored his 1,000th career point Thursday night as the Falcons blew by Murray County Central 52-36 in a Red Rock Conference game played in Lamberton.

Rogotzke finished the night with 16 points, nine rebounds and four blocks as the Falcons improved to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Jeff DeCock also had a big night for RRC. He scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists.

The Rebels (2-11 overall, 2-6 Red Rock) got 10 points from Cole Bly.

RRC will try for another win today when the Falcons play at Hills-Beaver Creek in a boy/girl basketball doubleheader.

MACCRAY 60, Canby 50

Foul troubles plagued the Canby boy's basketball team as the Lancers had two players foul out and three others with four fouls each during Canby's 60-50 loss to the MACCRAY Wolverines in Canby on Thursday.

Cole Brusven knocked down four 3-pointers on his way to 15 points, while Zach Nuy led the Lancers with 16 points.

Carter Asche scored a game-high 20 points, while teammate Bailey Boike scored 19 for MACCRAY. Boike was 11-for-12 from the line during the game, while the Wolverines went 23-for-33 from the stripe as a team.

Canby (12-3 overall, 7-2 Camden Conference) is back in action tonight when the Lancers host the E.C.H.O. Charter School Rockets.

The Central Minnesota Christian boys' basketball team used a 66-62 win in Prinsburg on Thursday to snap Minneota's nine-game win streak.

Four Bluejays finished with over 10 points, led by Austin Bulthuis' 18. Grant Hoekstra added 12 points, while Nick Daugherty chipped in with an even 10. Zach Zwart poured in 14 points, including four of CMCS's six 3-pointers.

Grant Hennen had a 22-point, 16-rebound double-double in defeat. Dan Harrison added 15 points to the Minneota cause, while Austin Buysse scored 11 in the loss.

Minneota (12-4 overall, 6-3 Camden Conference) is back in action on Tuesday, as the Vikings host the 10th-ranked Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks.

Jeff Sandbulte hit a 12-foot jumper with 1.6 seconds left on the clock to lift Hills-Beaver Creek to a 66-64 win over Westbrook-Walnut Grove Thursday night in Red Rock Conference boys' basketball action in Westbrook.

Sandbulte scored a game-high 23 points to lead H-BC to the win.

The Chargers had four players score in double figures. Alex Knutson led the way with 18 points, Taylor Lindaman hit four 3-pointers and had 16 points, Shane Buchman chipped in 12 points, and Aaron Hass had 10 points and eight rebounds.

WWG (5-8 overall) will try to bounce back Saturday in a home game against Ellsworth as the Chargers host Coaches vs. Cancer night in Westbrook.

Jordan Beck had 17 points, five rebounds and four steals to help lead the Lincoln HI boys' basketball team past Renville County West in a Camden Conference game played Thursday in Renville.

Nate Pavek added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Rebels, while Ryan Rybinski chipped in 10 points. Jeff Gladis was only other Rebel to score in the game. He had seven points and five steals.

Lincoln HI (4-10 overall, 2-7 Camden) takes on Central Minnesota Christian Tuesday in Ivanhoe.

Spencer Larsen scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Lakeview boys' basketball team ran away with an 86-32 non-conference win over E.C.H.O. Charter Thursday night in Echo.

Tyler Lange hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points for the Lakers, while Derek Larsen chipped in 10 points and seven assists.

The Rockets got 11 points from Shawn Peterson in the losing effort.

The Lakers (8-10 overall) return to action Saturday when they take on Cedar Mountain/Comfrey at home.

The Rockets take the court today against Canby in Canby.

YME 57, Redwood Valley 48

Down five points at halftime, the Yellow Medicine East girls' basketball team doubled its scoring output in the second half and charged back to defeat Redwood Valley 57-48 Thursday night in Granite Falls.

It was YME's second win of the season as the Sting snapped a five-game losing streak.

Chyanne Sand scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds in the game to lead the Sting. Dani Aus added 14 points, and Kelly Anderson chipped in nine points and 11 rebounds.

The Sting (2-14 overall) play another home non-conference game Monday when they take on Kerkhove-Murdock-Sunburg.

Make it eight straight for the Dawson-Boyd girls' basketball team, as the Blackjacks rolled to 60-37 win over Lakeview for their eighth consecutive victory.

Mari Lee scored 16 points to lead all Blackjacks, while Justine Lee and Katarina Kuhlmann joined her in double-figures with 11 and 13 points, respectively.

Corbyn Wee had a team-high 11 points for Lakeview, while Brianna Hoffman added 10 points.

Dawson-Boyd (15-1 overall, 8-1 Camden Conference) hosts No. 4 (Class A) Minneota in Dawson tonight, while Lakeview (6-11, 3-6) hosts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.

Canby 42, Redwood Valley 18

The Canby wrestling team earned a 42-18 non-conference win over Redwood Valley Thursday in Redwood Falls.

The Lancers won five matches by pin fall. Quentin Beiningen earned a pin at 126 pounds, Brett Jelen at 132 pounds and Nick Stoks at 138 pounds. Other Lancers to earn pins were Hayden Goplen (160 pounds) and John Deslauriers (170).

The Lancers will have a big day Saturday when they host the Canby Wrestling Extravaganza at Canby High School. Following youth wrestling in the morning, the Lancers will have a pair of duals against Waconia and St. James before Southwest Minnesota State takes on top-ranked St. Cloud State in a collegiate dual in the evening.
