The Mustang wheelchair basketball team wrapped up a weekend trip to Columbia, Mo., with a pair of losses Saturday, falling to Wisconsin-Whitewater 73-61 and then losing to host Missouri 64-49.

Jake Williams knocked down three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 30 points to lead Wisconsin-Whitewater past SMSU. He finished 12-for-20 from the field and also tallied eight assists.

David Nelson paced the Mustangs with 21 points in the loss, while Derek Klinkner had 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Kyle Timmerman had a solid all-around game for the Mustangs with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists.

In their second game of the day, the Mustangs stuck with the Missouri Tigers in the first half, trailing 27-22 heading into the break, before the home team pulled away in the second half.

Nelson again led the charg for the Mustangs, scoring 16 points. Klinkner added 16 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Timmerman tallied seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.

"What hurt us this weekend was we couldn't put our best five players on the floor together given the classification restrictions and the 14-point limit, but that shouldn't take away from the kids' effort this weekend, it was really phenomenal," SMSU head coach Lew Shaver said.
