February 1, 2013
Marshall Independent

The Marshall boys' hockey team went to New Ulm on Thursday looking to avenge an earlier loss to the Eagles, but were unable to get going offensively, falling to their section foe 7-1.

New Ulm (11-11-1 overall) got hot early, scoring four goals before the Tigers (11-8-1) were able to get on the board with a Quinn Horvath power play goal at the 15 minutes, 34 second mark. Beau Mikel got the assist.

The Eagles got a fifth goal at 16:00, which also gave Brandon Helget a hat trick for a 5-1 lead after the first period.

New Ulm added a goal in each of the next two periods to extend its lead over Marshall, ending the game with a 7-1 win.

Mason Campion ended the night with 34 saves for the Tigers, who will travel to Sioux Falls to face the Flyers next Tuesday before ending the season playing host to St. Peter/Lesuer-Henderson/Tri City United a week later.
