Carlson completes securities and insurance licensing exams

Carla Goedtke, chief financial officer for Investors Choice Financial Services Inc. of Slayton and Marshall, announced that Sydney Carlson, of Marshall, successfully completed her securities and insurance licensing exams and is now a registered assistant through their broker/dealer American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc.

Both securities exams are maintained and administered by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. The Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, commonly referred to as the Series 63, is developed by North American Securities Administrators Association. The examination is designed to qualify candidates as securities agents within a state; nearly all states require individuals to pass the Series 63 as a condition of state registration.

The Series 7 exam is a six-hour, 260 question test, which covers a broad range of investments including stocks, bonds, options, limited partnerships and investment company products.

Before sitting for the insurance license for life/accident and health licensing exam, Carlson had to first complete the 40 hours of Minnesota Department of Commerce pre-approved insurance pre-license education. She now will assist with client needs for health, life, disability and long-term care insurance.

Carlson has been with Investors Choice Financial Services since 2009.
