Canby 74, TMB 49

Michael Slaba hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points to pace the Canby Lancers in a 74-49 victory over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in a Camden Conference boys' basketball game played Friday night in Tracy.

Michael Sisk chipped in 16 points and five rebounds for the Lancers, who led 38-21 by the half. Cole Brusven also reached double figures, hitting three 3-pointers and scoring 11 points.

Alec Swan scored 15 points to lead the Panthers in the loss.

TMB (6-15 overall, 4-8 Camden) takes on Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Class A's fifth-ranked team, Thursday in Tyler.

Canby (18-4, 11-3) will host a non-conference game against Deuel (S.D.) on Monday.

Dawson-Boyd 70, Lakeview 27

Dawson-Boyd locked up on defense and hit 11 3-pointers on offense on its way to a 70-27 victory over Lakeview Friday in a Camden Conference boys' basketball game played in Dawson.

Joey Lee hit three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Blackjacks (17-4 overall, 11-3 Camden). He also had 11 rebounds and six steals. Nathaniel Huot hit four 3s and scored 16 points, while Michael Lee scored 15 points and had eight rebounds.

Spencer Larsen scored 13 points for Lakeview and was the only Laker to score more than five. Jonah Dovre added 10 rebounds and five blocks.

Lakeview (11-14, 6-9) has another tough game Monday at home against MACCRAY. The Blackjacks will play at Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Tuesday.

Cedar Mountain/Comfrey beat Wabasso 66-50 in Wabasso Friday night. Neil Eichten added 24 points to Wabasso's score. Seth Guetter played a solid game and contributed ten points and five assists. Tanner Bock chipped in with 12 rebounds and four points.

CM/C's leading scorers were Sam Pendleton with 24 points and Zach Kerkhoff with 20 points. CM/C had the edge with 26 points to Wabasso's 21 at halftime. Despite shooting at only 40 percent from the free throw line, the team managed to stay ahead in the second half.

Wabasso (8-15 overall, 5-10 Tomahawk) will go on to play against the Springfield Tigers in Springfield on Friday.

Taylor Lindaman scored 28 points to help lead the Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys' basketball team to a 72-60 win over Murray County Central Friday night in Westbrook.

Alex Knutson added 13 points and six assists, and Reed Bakken scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Sam Erickson hit five 4-pointers for MCC in the losing effort.

The Chargers (8-14 overall, 4-9 Red Rock Conference) play at Red Rock Central Tuesday.

The Rebels (3-17, 3-11) face Edgerton Tuesday in Slayton.

Area girls' basketball

Canby 44, Lakeview 33

The Canby Lancers overtook the Lakeview Lakers 44-33 in Friday's game in Cottonwood. The Lancers' leading scorer for the night was Morgan Merritt with 19 points. The team was also helped by Brandi Merritt, who chipped in three assists and three steals. Richelle Kallhoff totaled five blocks during the game to keep the Lancers ahead.

The Lancers had a solid 27-18 lead over Lakeview by halftime. The Lakers recieved support from Corbyn Wee, whose 11 points, four steals, and two blocks helped keep them in the game. Allison Boerboom contributed ten points, and Brianna Hoffman had 11 rebounds and two blocks.

Canby (11-9 overall, 8-6 Camden) will play Lincoln HI at home today. Lakeview (9-16, 4-10) plays MACCRAY today in Clara City.

Minneota 68, Pipestone 28

The Minneota Vikings took home a 68-28 win against Pipestone in Friday's game in Minneota. Taylor Reiss put 29 points towards the winning effort, with an additional ten rebounds and three steals. The Vikings' Shelby Corbin was also in good form, adding three steals and three points. Payton Boerboom contributed six of the team's 20 assists.

Minneota led the Pipestone Arrows 42-12 by halftime. Kelly Nettik added eleven points towards Pipestone's score, and Megan Remund contributed four.

Minneota, now 22-2 overall, will play Dawson-Boyd in the Camden Conference championship game Tuesday in Dawson.

Wabasso 55, CM/C 50

Ellen Franta's 3-pointer with a minute left gave the Wabasso Rabbits the lead, while her teammates held on for a 55-50 Tomahawk Conference girls' basketball win over Cedar Mountain/Comfrey in Morgan on Friday.

Franta scored seven points in the win while dishing out a team-high seven assists. Kimberly Frank paced the Rabbits with 14 points, while Chelsey Guetter and Larissa Rohlik each chipped in 11. Rohlik added three steals, while Guetter pulled down nine rebounds and had a pair of blocks.

Haley Weidman led CM/C with 17 points, while Andrea Ochs and Brianna Lund went for 13 and 11 respectively.

With the win, the Rabbits end the regular season with a 23-2 overall record and the best marks in the conference at 15-1. Wabasso also enters section playoffs as the No. 1 seed in Section 3A-South after winning 15 straight games. The Rabbits await the winner of Ellsworth and Hills-Beaver Creek on Feb. 23 in Worthington.

Yellow Medicine East's Dani Aus scored 10 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out eight assists, but it wasn't enough to help her team to a win Friday. Paynesville Area jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead and held on to a 52-45 victory in a West Central Conference girls' basketball game in Granite Falls.

Paynesville was led by Ericka Schlangen, who hit three 3-pointers and scored 19 points. Brooke Wuertz added 13 pints in the win.

YME's Kelly Anderson posted nine points and five rebounds for the Sting.

YME (4-19 overall, 1-15 WCC) will try to rebound Monday in a home game against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.
