Area boys' basketball

Dawson-Boyd 69, ACGC 66

Guards Nathaniel Huot and Joey Lee combined to score 49 points to help lift the Dawson-Boyd boys' basketball team over Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 69-66 Saturday at the West Central/Camden Challenge in Renville.

Lee hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 26 points for Dawson-Boyd, Class A's ninth-ranked team. He also had eight rebounds before fouling out. Huot drilled four 3-pointers and scored 23 points, also tallying four assists and three steals.

Sophomore forward Michael Lee posted a double-double for the Blackjacks with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

ACGC (14-9 overall) got 21 points from Taylor Larson, who connected on five 3-pointers. Jacob Belgum added 17 points in the losing effort.

The Blackjacks (18-4) return to Camden Conference play Tuesday when they hit the road to face Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

Canby 49, Lincoln HI 14

The Canby girls' basketball team capped off its regular season with a lock-down defensive effort Saturday against Lincoln HI, holding the Rebels to just seven made field goals in a 49-14 win in a Camden Conference game in Canby.

Ricki Kallhoff had 16 points, seven rebounds and five blocks for the Lancers, who led 27-8 by halftime. Brandi Merritt hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points, while Morgan Merritt tallied seven points and eight assists.

Maranda Jerzak made four of Lincoln HI's seven field goals for eight points.

Canby (12-9 overall, 9-6 Camden) will open play in the Section 3A-North tournament at 4 p.m. Saturday in Montevideo. The Lancers will face the winner between Ortonville and E.C.H.O. Charter School.

Lincoln HI (1-18, 1-12) plays E.C.H.O. Charter today in Ivanhoe and will conclude its regular season Tuesday at Edgerton.

Down eight at the half, the MACCRAY girls' basketball team rallied for a 45-43 win over Lakeview in a Camden Conference game played Saturday in Clara City.

Brooke Gould led the Wolverines with 17 points and five steals to help MACCRAY complete the comeback. Taylor Grussing added 10 points and seven steals.

Madi Nelson was the lone Laker to finish in double figures. She hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points. Brianna Hoffman had 11 rebounds and four blocks in the loss, while Corbyn Wee tallied eight points, four assists and five steals.

Lakeview (9-17 overall, 4-11 Camden) opens play in the Section 3A tournament on Thursday when the Lakers play host to Lincoln HI.
