Day of Prayer observed Friday at Christ United

Christ United Presbyterian Church will sponsor the annual World Day of Prayer at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 1. The theme this year is the country of France. Everyone is invited to attend this service.

SCD to sponsor Lenten lunches Thursdays

The Slayton Catholic Daughters will sponsor a luncheon each Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Ann's Church, Divine Mercy Hall, Slayton. The menu includes sandwiches, salads and desserts. Carryouts are available by calling 507-836-8030. Thursday's lunch will include hot beef/pork sandwiches.

CDA offers scholarship

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas local Court St. Joan of Arc 1291 is offering a $500 scholarship to a 2013 graduating Catholic girl who plans to continue her formal education. She must be a member of Holy Redeemer Parish or any of the adjacent Catholic parishes that do not have a Catholic Daughters Court.

Applications are available at the Holy Redeemer Parish office or from Madonna Cinkle, 1206 Westwood Drive, Marshall, MN 56258. Phone is 532-5895. Complete forms, including letters of recommendations, must be returned to Cinkle no later than April 15.

Speaker Tuesday at St. Mary's Chapel before CCW meeting

The Rev. James Seitz, of the Winona Diocese, will speak on Consecrating your life to Mary at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Chapel, 501 S. Whitney St., Marshall. Seitz will speak from personal experience of making an act of consecration to our Blessed Mother. He will explain what it means, what it promises and how one can make an act of consecration to Mary.

All men, women and youth are invited to attend the presentation. Refreshments will be served. The Council of Catholic Women general meeting will follow. Call Jan Noyes at 532-9446 with any questions.

Belgian waffles served March 10 at St. Mary's in Cottonwood

Father Jack's Belgian waffles will be served from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cottonwood. Five varieties of waffles will be available.
