Avera Marshall introduces VP of mission services

Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center announces Steve Tappe as the vice president of mission services. He grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa and Helena, Mont. His interest in Catholic theology led him to college studies in philosophy and theology, and he has a master of theological studies degree.

His background includes teaching high school religion and moral theology and working as the supervisor of a wildland fire crew. He began at Avera Marshall in January.

Each regional Avera facility has a designated person working in mission services to serve as a role model and educator for issues such as local identity, ethics, values and care of the poor.

"We are pleased to have Steve join our team," said Mary Maertens, president/CEO of Avera Marshall. "Every successful mission-based organization has a leader in this role, and we look forward to him being a champion of furthering our mission and ministry within our organization and community."

Tappe, along with his wife and four children, have relocated to Marshall from Montana.

Stienessen receives training award from John Deere

Schuneman Equipment Co. employee Doug Stienessen has achieved master level recognition for the service technician program. In order to be considered a master level technician, employees must complete certifications in electrical, hydraulic and diagnostic systems plus amass more than 225 hours of training credits through John Deere University.

"Achievement of master level shows not only the employee's dedication to training but is an indication of their ability to effectively apply what they learn to our customer's equipment. With the pace of technological change that we face today, this is especially important to our success as a dealership," said Jared Knudson, AfterMarket manager.

John Deere University credits are earned in various categories to ensure expertise in the sales, service or parts departments of John Deere dealerships.
