It was a cold, blustery day for the start of golf season, but the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys' and girls' teams took to the links, regardless, to get their season underway on Friday.
Hosting the Fulda boys' and girls' teams, as well as individuals from Hendricks, at the East Bay 9 Par 3 golf course in Balaton, the Panthers were victorious on the boys' side and came up short against the Raiders in the girls' competition.
The Fulda girls' golf team shot a 169 on the par-27 course, led by medalist Madeline Westra's 10-over 37.
TMB's lowest score came from Morgan Benson, who posted a 45, while Annika Anderson was right behind her at 49. Morgan Anderson shot a 55, while Emily Crumrine carded a 59 to round out the TMB scoring.
For the boys, TMB rallied behind co-medalist Devin Skalak's 5-over 32 to edge the Raiders by eight strokes.
Joey Felt and Rick Jorgenson tied for second on the Panthers, shooting 40, while Michael Nilius and Myer Van Essen tied for fourth with identical 42s. TMB shot 154 as a team.
Fulda's Todd Peterson shared medalist honors with Skalak, though the rest of the Raiders were unable to keep pace as they combined for a team total of 162 strokes.
Hendricks did not have enough golfers competing to enter the team competition, but Kolbe Frank recorded a 39 to lead all Grizzlies' golfers.
The Panthers were scheduled to take part in girls' and boys' meets at Marshall Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday respectively, but those have been postponed due to course conditions. Instead, the Panthers will continue their season on Thursday in Minneota, where they will face off against the Minneota Vikings and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights.
