SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Mass of Christian Burial for Kathleen A. Garrow, 68, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Church. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at St. Michael Catholic Church with the family present from 5-7 p.m. and a Liturgical Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.

She died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer.

Kathleen Ann Culhane, the daughter of William and Frances (Fargen) Culhane, was born Jan. 26, 1945, in Flandreau, S.D. The oldest of six siblings, Kate attended Central Catholic High School in Marshall, as well as Worthington Community College School of Nursing in Worthington.

On Jan. 28, 1965, Kathleen was united in marriage with Gordy Garrow in Marshall. While in Marshall, they lived and raised Kate's two youngest siblings, as well as their four children. After the graduation of their youngest son, they relocated to Sioux Falls. While in Sioux Falls, they enjoyed raising their oldest grandchild, enhancing their professional careers and growing their love for one another throughout her extended fight with cancer.

Family and friends were Kate's passion and delight. She loved spending time with her five siblings, four children and twelve grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed watching her family participate in sports, dance and countless activities. In addition, Kate enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, bowling, golfing and playing cards. She also played an active role in the Marshall chapter of the Minnesota Women's Jaycees.

Kate worked as a nurse at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, as well as Central Plains Clinic and Sanford Surgical Tower in Sioux Falls. She also worked as a Marketing Specialist with Orion Food Systems, also located in Sioux Falls.

She was a member of St. Michael Parish in Sioux Falls.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Gordy of Sioux Falls; her children, Suzanne (Thomas) Dysart, Denver, Colo., Amy Tumbleson, Mahtomedi, Jon (Julie), Sioux Falls, Jason (Amy), Charlotte, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Brianna Carroll, Staci Stupka, Joe Stupka, Trei Dysart, Tia Tumbleson, Shayla Dysart, Tavian Tumbleson, Peyton Garrow, Pierce Garrow, Tysell Dysart, Piper Garrow; five siblings, Jim (Marsha) Culhane, Marshall, Michael (Carol) Culhane, Marshall, Pat Culhane, Bloomington, Terry (Sandy) Culhane, Marshall and Peggy (Bryan) Peterson, Fergus Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances.
