Divine Providence Health Center in Ivanhoe to enter enhanced management relationship with Avera Marshall

The board of directors for Divine Providence Health Center is pleased to announce an enhanced management relationship with Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.

Divine Providence has had a management agreement with Avera since the early 1980s. As part of strategic planning and management, Divine Providence's governing board requested additional assistance in providing in-depth management for the continuum of care services as well as developing a long term strategy. As a result, a two-year enhanced management relationship with Divine Providence will take effect July 1, 2013.

"We feel that Avera Marshall has the resources and the desire to help us assess our present and define our future, " said board chairman, Mike Panka. "Their expertise in health care and the resources they can offer us are unmatched. We recognize the shared mission and vision of providing quality health care services close to home."

Divine Providence will continue to own the facilities and be governed by the board of directors. Management services will be provided by Avera Marshall, with the Administrator reporting to the Avera Marshall President & CEO. All employees will continue to be employed by Divine Providence.

Avera Marshall will assist with financial expertise, human resource management, technology assistance, quality assurance activities, safety standards, regulatory guidance and staff development.

"Our commitment to assuring health care in the region compels us to provide support for Divine Providence through a network of resources and depth of expertise," said Mary Maertens, President & CEO. "We recognize the importance of services being available in the Ivanhoe community and are pleased with the confidence the DPHC board has in us."

Divine Providence includes a 25-bed nursing home, a 7-unit senior apartment complex and employs approximately 45 staff.
