SMSU golfer Weiszhaar receives NSIC honor

Southwest Minnesota State senior golfer Krista Weiszhaar has been named to the 2013 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference second team, the conference announced Wednesday.

The All-NSIC honorees are selected by the league's head coaches.

Weiszhaar, a native of Harwood, N.D., and a 2009 graduate of West Fargo High School, led SMSU in stroke average (83.2) in 18 rounds during the 2012-13 season. She had four top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes this season.

Weiszhaar ended her playing career at SMSU ranking fourth in program history with an 82.8 stroke average in 84 rounds. She played in three NCAA region tournaments (2010-12) and one NCAA national championship (2012). Weiszhaar had 10 career top-five finishes and 18 career top-10 finishes over her four seasons.

Augustana won all of the NSIC individual awards this season. Senior Emily Kvidera was the NSIC Golfer of the Year, Jenny Pederson was named the Freshman of the Year, and Peggy Kirby was selected as the Coach of the Year.
