Nancy Macht

age 71 of Eden Valley and formerly of St. Cloud

EDEN VALLEY - A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Nancy K. Macht, 71, of Eden Valley and formerly of St. Cloud, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. The Rev. Matthew Kuhn and the Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil, OSB will officiate. Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.

Nancy passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with breast cancer on Thursday, May 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at the St. Cloud Hospital. Nancy found strength and joy by attending daily mass and living her life of faith in relationship with Jesus Christ.

Nancy was born July 3, 1941 in Tustin, Calif., to the Wilbur and Kathleen (Councilman) Jackson. She graduated high school in Bishop, Calif., in 1959. She and Richard P. "Dick" Macht were married Aug. 13, 1966, in Bishop. In 1978 they moved to Lucan, where they owned and operated the local grocery store. In 1994, because of a fire, they lost their home and business and moved to Paynesville. Nancy attended Ridgewater Community College in Willmar and obtained her LPN degree in 1996. She was employed on the Mental Health Unit at the St. Cloud Hospital until retirement. They moved to St. Cloud in 2004, and recently Nancy lived with her son and his family, Brian and Emily in Zimmerman. She was a member of Assumption Parish in Eden Valley, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) and a past member of St. Michael's Parish in St. Cloud.

Nancy spent many special summers with her family at their lake cabin near Eden Valley where she loved to fish and spend time with her close friends. She also enjoyed going to MN Swarm Games (LaCrosse) with her sons, treasured time spent with her grandchildren, making pilgrimages and being involved with Koinonia. Nancy will also be remembered for the thousands of rosaries she made with her husband, Dick.

Nancy is survived by her three children, Brian (and Emily) Macht of Zimmerman, Sr. Mary Sarah Macht, RSM of Alma, Mich., and Eric Macht of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Alyssa, Joseph and Ella Macht; brother, Terry (and Diane) Jackson of Big Pine, Calif.; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, on Nov. 20, 2011.
