Marshall VFW Orange was frigid at the plate in their season opener, accumulating zero hits against Tracy's Tayler Carlson in a 6-1 loss Monday night in Tracy.
Carlson fanned 11 batters over seven innings to pick up his no-hitter, though Orange was able to take advantage of a brief lapse in Carlson's control to break up the shutout.
Blaise Andries reached first base via one of Carlson's three walks in the game. Two passed balls later and Orange was on the board.
Tracy plated five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off of Marshall reliever Thomas Fischer, who took the loss. John Botsford started and pitched three innings for Orange, while Jacob Buysse threw the final two innings and allowed one run.
Brady Lanoue had the only extra-base hit in the game, mashing a double for Tracy.
Marshall Orange is back in action on Thursday, as they look for both their first win and first hit of the season against Sacred Heart in Marshall.
