To the editor:
Well, it looks like lots of hard work, perseverance and money to buy the media and lobby the politicians has finally paid off for homosexual activists. Minnesota is numbered among the states legalizing same sex marriage. A similar strategy also paid off on May 23 in Texas when Boy Scouts of America delegates voted to lift the ban on homosexuals for membership; so much for the obligations in the Scout Oath and Scout Law to be morally straight and clean in thought, word and deed.
The activists got their first real boost for recognition when in 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality as a mental disorder from the APA's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-II). The decision was not based on scientific evidence, but political pressure when homosexual activists harassed APA yearly conference attendees starting in 1970. (see Homosexuality and American Psychiatry: The Politics of Diagnosis. 1981, chapter 4.)
In 1987, Kirk & Madsen produced the "six steps" in "Overhauling of Straight America" and its 1989 follow up, "After the Ball" - essentially the "bible" of the homosexual movement. Page 153 says: "We mean conversion of the average American's emotions, mind, and will, through a planned psychological attack, in the form of propaganda fed to the nation via the media." Among other things, the six steps deal with neutralizing "Joe Sixpack" and demonizing the religious right using the "bracket technique." - (which partly explains why there are so many silent pulpits on this issue.) In other words, the movement is not based on intellectual argument; only emotional manipulation of the public and intimidation of clergy.
It appears we have changed the dictionary definition of marriage without even defining what a homosexual is. Male and female can be easily defined by genetics, a homosexual cannot be defined genetically; he or she just happens to be a heterosexual with a homosexual problem, a psychological condition that can float in and out of existence. And if that is the case, then we should have many more definitions for marriage, depending on whatever mental disorder we want to legitimize; all of which makes a mockery of the Natural Law and the law of nature.
Over the last 40 years, we Americans have gotten rather apathetic and/or comfortable with torture and killing of more than 55 million of our children by abortion, and I suspect the same attitude will prevail as we sit by and watch the definition of marriage be turned into some kind of sick joke.
Why do we let this happen? Pope Pius X in 1908, said: "In our time more than ever before, the chief strength of the wicked, lies in the cowardice and weakness of good men... All the strength of Satan's reign is due to the easy-going weakness of Catholics." Don't like quotes from Catholics?
How about the Protestant, Edmond Burke: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Don't like Christian quotes? How about ancient Chinese archivist Lao Zi: "The Sage rules thus: he empties their minds, stuffs their bellies, weakens their will, and strengthens their bodies. He always keeps the people devoid of intelligence and desire. He keeps the intelligent in fear from action, and all are governed." All three men are simply inviting us to look at the coward in the mirror. Change for the better will come, when we as a nation become more humble. I think team China-Russia will teach us a lesson in humility, pretty soon - now that we are fully hand-cuffed to a "Made in China" economy; remember the lyrics in 'Sixteen Tons'? "I owe my soul to the company store."
Despite all this gloom and doom, it's still a wonderful world that unfolds before us when we search for the Good, the True, and the Beautiful.
May the Intelligent Designer of the micro and macro universe bless you and keep you.
