Facts say sky isn't falling

June 19, 2013
Marshall Independent

To the editor:

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Chicken Little spreading the alarm.

Taxes are going up! Taxes are going up!

Representative Chris Swedzinski spreading the alarm.

Instead of trying to scare people with nonsense, Swedzinski ought to be sharing facts.

Fact: The Minnesota Legislature, under DFL leadership that cooperated with Governor Mark Dayton, ended the session on time with a balanced budget.

Fact: There was no need this year for an expensive special legislative session.

Fact: The budget was balanced without using accounting tricks such as sending our local schools an IOU rather than sending them a check.

These are just three facts that Swedzinski chooses to ignore. Maybe because it is easier to run around yelling, "The sky is falling."
