A flare over second base snapped a five-game winning streak for the Lamberton Long Sox as they fell to the New Ulm Brewers 2-1 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk East League game in New Ulm.
The seeing-eye single scored a lone run in the bottom of the eighth for the Brewers and broke a 1-1 tie from the fourth inning.
Issac Jenniges drove in the lone Lamberton run on a single. The Long Sox had just four other hits off of New Ulm's Wade French, who went the distance while picking up the win.
The Brewers had just eight singles themselves off of Colby Pack and Dylan Bunting, though it was Bunting who surrendered the deciding hit. Pack threw seven innings of one run ball, including six consecutive shutout innings after allowing the game's first run in the bottom of the first.
Lamberton (13-6 overall, 12-3 TEL) is back in action on Saturday, when the Long Sox travel to Gibbon for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
