Schmidt powers Yankees to 13-3 win over Mudhens

Andy Schmidt was a scorer's decision from the cycle as the Milroy Yankees pulverized the Minneota Mudhens 13-3 in seven innings Wednesday night in Milroy.

Along with a two-run home run in the fifth, Schmidt also legged out a triple and double for the Yankees. Schmidt knocked in three runs and finished the night 3-for-4 as a scalded line drive caromed off a Mudhen infielder and was ruled as an error.

Colton Peterson also had three hits for the Yankees, which accumulated 19 for the game. Peterson finished 3-for-5.

Austin Deutz threw six strong innings for Milroy, striking out nine and walking two. The Yankees committed four errors behind Deutz, resulting in three unearned runs.

Cal Swedzinski started and took the loss for the Mudhens.

The Yankees (13-3 overall) return to action tonight for a road game with the Lamberton Long Sox.

Hadley 9, Adrian 5

Despite spotting Adrian five runs in the first inning, the Hadley Buttermakers rallied for a 9-5 win Wednesday in Adrian.

Justin Reinsma relieved Hadley starter Sam Erickson in the first inning then shutout Adrian over the next seven innings, striking out six and picking up the win. Nick Bruning fired a scoreless ninth to earn the save for the Buttermakers.

Bruning also had a strong night at the plate. His solo home run in the fourth inning proved to be the deciding run in the game, while also clubbing a double for Hadley. Trent Carlson also tagged a double and finished the night with two hits. Chris Halbur chipped in two hits as well, while Joe Larson was 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Hadley.

The Buttermakers (16-10 overall, 11-5 Gopher League) are back in action on Friday for a road game at Sacred Heart.

Lamberton 4, Springfield 1

Colby Pack tossed eight innings of one-run baseball as the Lamberton Long Sox topped Springfield 4-1 Wednesday in Lamberton.

Lamberton led throughout the game, scoring their first run in the bottom of the first. The Long Sox added two more runs, including the deciding run, in the fourth.

Pack struck out five and allowed six hits. Jacob Jenniges fired the ninth inning and recorded the save for Lamberton.

Offensively, Landon Erickson's two doubles paced the Long Sox, while Donald Strand also roped a double.

Alex Frank pitched all eight innings for Springfield and took the loss.

Lamberton (16-7 overall) hosts the Milroy Yankees tonight in its next contest.
