Krogen new Glik's manager

Glik Stores, a privately-owned apparel and footwear store chain, announces the appointment of Dorothy Krogen as manager of the Glik's Store at 1420 E. College Drive in Marshall. Krogen has been involved in retail management most of her career.

Agriculture equipment company Brokaw announces opening of new facility

Family-owned, Brokaw Supply Co. is expanding its supply of agriculture spray and fertilizer equipment to southern Minnesota. The Iowa-based company has announced it will open its new store in Redwood Falls and is on schedule to begin operations Nov. 1.

The facility, which will encompass more than 11,000 square feet, will include a dedicated service and shop area, extensive parts inventory and elaborate showroom.

"Minnesota farmers have expressed a need for sales and service support of quality sprayer and fertilizer products. The opening of the Redwood Falls store will meet these needs and allow us to better serve our customers," said Robert Varland, who will manage the Redwood Falls location

Brokaw Supply carries industry-leading spray and fertilizer equipment lines, including Apache, Blu Jet, Duo-Lift and RayMan, all of which will be also be available at the new Minnesota location. The Yield Center, Brokaw Supply's precision agriculture department, will also have specialists staffed in Redwood Falls.

Service of equipment is a focus of the new Redwood Falls location. As Brokaw Supply General Manager Craig Harthoorn said, "Brokaw already has a great presence in Minnesota, and the new store is an opportunity to expand not only the sales, but the service and support of our product lines."

The shop area of the new facility will be large enough to handle all sizes of equipment and allow for service work on multiple sprayer and fertilizer application equipment at the same time.

The Brokaw Supply Redwood Falls store will be on Airport Road, south of Minnesota Highway 71 in Redwood Falls. Construction will begin in the next few weeks.

Marco receives best workplace honors

Marco Inc. received the state's top workplace awards and its highest employee satisfaction score in the wave of its largest employee growth in the company's history. The St. Cloud-based technology provider has added 310 employees in the past year. The company has been named one of the Top 100 Workplaces in Minnesota by the Star Tribune and Minnesota Business this summer and also received the 2013 Best Place to Work by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.

The results of Marco's annual employee survey scored the company 4.62 in work satisfaction on a 5-point scale, up from 4.22 a year ago and the highest value in the survey's 25-year history. Marco employees also gave the company high scores in training and continuous improvement. Employees ranked the company's employee ownership as most important to them. Marco's stock value increased 44 percent last year.

"This was our 25th consecutive year of measuring employee satisfaction, which includes everything from compensation and benefits to manager's performance and trust in leadership. North Star welcomesnew vice president

Martin Kurtzahn recently began work as vice president of business development for North Star Mutual Insurance Company, Cottonwood. Before coming to North Star, Kurtzahn was business insurance sales and underwriting manager for State Auto Insurance Company's Cincinnati, Ohio, branch. Prior to that, he worked eight years at the State Auto branch in Milbank, S.D., and he has 25 years of insurance company background working with claims, personal and commercial lines underwriting, sales, marketing and management. Kurtzahn and his wife, Shawn, have two sons: Daniel, 18, and Nick, 16.
