Lamberton closes out series sweep of Gibbon

The Lamberton Long Sox closed out a first-round sweep of the Gibbon Reds Sunday with an 8-3 win in Gibbon in the Tomahawk East League tournament.

Landon Erickson went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer to help propel Lamberton to victory. Isaac Jenniges and Donald Strand each added two hits for the Long Sox, who finished with eight hits for the game.

Gibbon scored two runs in the first inning but was held to one run over the next eight innings. Lamberton scored five runs in the fifth to take control of the game.

Jacob Jenniges got the win on the mound, striking out seven batters in seven innings. Johnny Pistulka struck out four batters in two innings of relief.

Gibbon was held to four hits in the game and committed three errors.

The Long Sox (20-9 overall) return to the field Saturday in Lamberton for their first game of the Region 2C playoffs, though the time of the game and the opponent are yet to be determined.
