Hadley falls in series opener

The Hadley Buttermakers dropped the opening game in a best-of-three Region 13C series 12-2 to Wilmont on Wednesday in Wilmont.

The Buttermakers were only able to muster two runs in the game, while the Cardinals put together an eight-run fourth inning.

Max Zwart led the way at the plate for Hadley, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Nick Bruning was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Game 2 of the Region 13C series will move to Hadley on Saturday at 2 p.m. when the Buttermakers will try to stay alive in their bid for a Class C state tournament appearance.

Brewers stop Long Sox streak

The Lamberton Long Sox fell to the New Ulm Brewers 13-2 in the 2C Region round robin tournament on Wednesday, but a Leavenworth loss to Stark the same night sealed the Long Sox trip to the Class C state tournament.

Colby Pack took the loss for Lamberton, while Wade French picked up the win for New Ulm.

The Long Sox (23-10) managed six hits in the game, but all were singles. The Brewers put together 12 hits, including six doubles and a home run.

Lamberton will be in action again on Saturday night when they travel to Springfield.
