Southwest Minnesota State University Mustang Steven Kremer homered twice for the Wilmont Cardinals, while Lucas Henning allowed just two hits over nine innings pitched in a 7-0 win over the Hadley Buttermakers in Hadley on Saturday.
The win advances the Cardinals out of the Region 13C playoffs and into the Minnesota Class C amateur baseball state tournament, but ends the Buttermakers' season after Hadley posted an overall record of 21-16.
Along with his nine shutout innings, Henning also doubled and tripled for Wilmont (which totaled 14 hits off of the Hadley pitchers Tom Hady and Justin Reinsma).
Hady, a draftee from the Jackson Bulls, pitched the first seven innings before making way for Reinsma to start the eight.
Trent Carlson and Chris Halbur had the hits for the Buttermakers, who were swept in the best-of-three series 2-0.
