Mustangs pick their captains for 2013

Players voted to elect two leaders on each side of the ball

Southwest Minnesota State University head football coach Cory Sauter announced on Sunday that four players, two on offense and two on defense, have been named team captains for the 2013 season. The team captains were selected by a vote of the Mustang players.

The offensive team captains selected were senior offensive center Brandon Puffer from Buffalo and junior quarterback Charlie Kern from Belle Plaine.

The defensive team captains named were senior safety Tate Bunkers from Dell Rapids, S.D., and junior defensive tackle Jacob Levtzow from Rockham, S.D.

SMSU opens the 2013 season on Saturday, hosting St. Cloud State with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. at Mattke Field at the Schwan Regional Event Center.
