PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Red Rock Central wins, ties for Red Rock Conference lead

Red Rock Central posted a 25-19, 18-25, 27-25, 27-25 victory over Southwest Minnesota Christian in a Red Rock Conference match Thursday.

Mikaela Smith went 22 of 23 from the serving line with one ace, while Hannah Sell (17 of 18, one ace) and Olivia Bittner (16 of 17, two aces) also served well.

Bittner was the Falcons' kill leader with 13. Melanie Kedl and Cassie Erickson each added nine more, while Rachel Kedl produced seven. Melanie Kedl posted six blocks and Bittner chipped in three.

Smith recorded 34 assists for RRC, while Erickson came up within 22 digs, Bittner had 19 and Brooke Rasmussen added 17.

The Falcons are 8-5 overall and tied Southwestern United and Murray County Central for the Red Rock Conference lead at 5-0.

EDGERTON - The Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball team swept Edgerton in Red Rock Conference action on Thursday, 25-12, 25-9, 24-12.

Dayna Comnick had 16 kills to lead the Chargers while Cassidy Mischke had 10 kills, 12 digs and was 14-of-15 with three ace serves.

WWG (10-6, 4-2 Red Rock) will host to Wabasso on Monday in Westbrook for a non-conference game.

Chelsey Guetter led the Rabbits, with 14 kills, 12 digs, two blocks and an 18-for-18 serving performance with an ace. Callie Rohlik added seven kills and 10 digs in the win.

Wabasso (11-2, 5-1 Tomahawk) will travel to Madelia on Saturday at the Madelia Tournament.

PRINSBURG - The Minneota volleyball team missed two serves all night in a sweep of Central Minnesota Christian on Thursday night.

The Vikings gave the Bluejays their first Camden Conference loss of the season, winning 25-10, 25-21, 25-14.

Taylor Reiss led Minneota with 15 kills, 16 digs and two blocks. Molly Hennen was right behind her with 12 kills, 14 digs and a block while Shelby Corbin added five kills, 10 digs and a block.

Minneota (18-1, 8-0 Camden) will be in action again on Tuesday when they host to Lincoln HI in Minneota.

A balanced attack helped lead the Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks to a sweep against Canby in Camden Conference volleyball action Thursday in Canby.

Justine Lee recorded a team-high nine kills along with four ace serves for the Blackjacks. Katarina Kuhlmann pounded down eight kills, while Justine Flattum and Nicole Jurgenson added six kills apiece. Flattum also had two ace serves and nine set assists, while Kylie Schuelke chipped in with 10 digs.

Dawson-Boyd (12-5, 6-3 Camden) is at home Tuesday against Renville County West.

Janel Wichern led the Knights with 11 kills and seven digs while Justine Possail had three ace serves to go with seven kills and two blocks. Brooke Tayler had four kills for the Rebels while Morgan Citterman had 11 digs.

RTR (9-6, 6-2 Camden) will host to its tournament on Saturday, which Lincoln HI (2-12, 0-8 Camden) will play.

Whintey Fisher (21 of 21, four aces), Sadie Stelter (13 of 14, one ace) and Briatta Buntjer (11 of 12, one ace) were the serving stars for the Lakers. Brianna Hoffman led Lakeview with nine kills, while Rachel Kurtenbach added eight more and Katie Timm produced four.

Buntjer topped the Lakers with eight digs and Makana Barker added six and Stelter contributed four. Stelter set up 16 assists, while Barker posted seven. Hoffman led Lakeview with three blocks, Timm had two more and Brooklyn Hartle chipped in two.

The Lakers are 9-9-2 overall and 3-6 versus the Camden.

Montevideo 3, YME 2

The Yellow Medicine East volleyball team battled into the fifth set but eventually fell to Montevideo Thursday in Montevideo.

YME was defeated by scores of 25-13, 24-26, 25-23, 21-25, 15-13. Chyanne Sand contributed seven kills and five ace blocks in the loss, while Makayla Dyrdahl had a team-high nine kills. Hailey Enstad chipped in with seven kills, while Madison Hagert tallied 14 digs.

The Sting (2-14, 2-7 West Central) will continue action Saturday at the Hancock tournament.
