MARSHALL - Alex Pantze scored a goal and tallied an assist in Southwest Minnesota Minnesota State's 3-0 victory over Minnesota-Duluth on Sunday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action at The Schwan Regional Event Center.

The victory was the Mustangs' first against the Bulldogs in the SMSU program's history. The Mustangs had been 0-21 against UMD coming into Sunday's match.

The shutout was the fourth consecutive for SMSU and goalkeeper Brienna Dehkes.

Pantze's goal came in the 64th minute and broke the 0-0 tie. In the 67th minute, it was Pantze again, assisting on Danica Caudillo's goal that gave SMSU a 2-0 lead

An insurance goal in the 77th minute padded the Mustang lead to 3-0 as Miranda Cadena scored her fifth goal of the season.

The Mustangs' entire offensive production came in the second half after SMSU didn't even get a shot off in the first half. In the second half, the Mustangs scored three goals on seven shots.

With the shutout, Dehkes and the defensive crew extends its scoreless streak to 389 minutes, dating back to Sept. 13.

Dehkes picked up the victory in the net for SMSU and improved her season record to 8-0, 5-0 in the NSIC. She made three saves on 11 shots.

The Mustangs (8-0, 5-0 NSIC) travel north next weekend for road games at Bemidji State and at Minnesota-Crookston.

SMSU 1, St. Cloud State 0

Caudillo ended the 0-0 tie in the 82nd minute when she beat St. Cloud State goalie Brittany Plombon on a one-on-one as the Mustangs topped the Huskies 1-0 on Saturday at The Schwan Regional Event Center.

St. Cloud State's defense held the potent SMSU offense scoreless for the majority of the game, but broke down late to give the Mustangs their third straight victory over the Huskies, dating back to the 2012 season.

For Caudillo, the goal was her first of the season.

SMSU's defense was stout all afternoon as Dehkes was forced to make just three saves.

The Mustangs' offense had 18 shots, with 10 coming on-goal. Cadena led with four shots and five other SMSU players collected two shots, including Caudillo and her match-winner.
