WINDOM - Tracy-Milroy-Balaton outlasted Windom Area 10-25, 25-17, 25-22, 27-29, 15-11 in a non-conference battle of state-ranked teams Monday.
The Panthers, ranked eighth in Class A, rallied from a loss in Game 4 to defeat the Eagles, ranked tenth in Class A.
"Early-on, we were not passing or serving very well," TMB head coach Katie Gervais said. "As the match went on, our serve receive improved, got our hitter more involved. It was an effort where many players were involved. We just had a few more hits than Windom Area."
Jessie Nelson topped TMB with 13 kills and four blocks. Kassidy Pryzmus (11 kills, 13 digs), Sydney Lanoue (11 kills) and Sammie Gervais (10 kills) also were effective attackers.
Sarah Stoneberg helped the Panthers with seven aces on 24 of 25 serving, 13 digs and one block. Anna Peterson added one ace on 13 of 14 serving and 29 digs.
The Panthers (16-5 overall) host Central Minnesota Christian today.

PIPESTONE - Murray County Central improved to 8-1 overall with a non-conference sweep of Pipestone Area 25-17, 25-21, 25-14 on Monday.
Kristi Bose led the Rebels with 13 kills, 13 digs and three blocks. Sierra Van Iperen served two aces and threw down two blocks, while Hannah Schmidt topped MCC with 21 digs.

Olivia Bittner had three aces on 18 of 19 serving, 10 kills and 10 digs for the Falcons, who received four aces (17 of 18 serving) and 13 digs from Brooke Rasmussen and 14 kills from Cassie Erickson.

Chelsey Guetter (15 of 15, one ace, 23 kills, 21 digs, nine blocks) topped the Rabbits' attack. Morgan Frank added 11 kills and Jamie Goblirsch dug up 21 digs as Wabasson moved to 13-3-3 overall in 2013.
Dayna Comnick had three aces on 20 of 20 serving, 26 kills, 25 digs and one solo block. Abby Herding provided 40 set assists, while Liz Woelber posted 26 digs.

Arrows preserve win against Rebels
PIPESTONE - Host school Pipestone Area edged Murray County Central 32-35, while Tracy-Milroy-Balaton scored 50 points on Monday.
The Rebels were led by the trio of Andy Garza (third, 20:08), Jack Erickson (fourth, 20:13) and Clayton Hartle (fifth, 20:19).
Nathan Beech (11th, 22:11) and Isaiah Olsem (14th, 22:42) also contributed to MCC's team score. Other Rebels in the race were William Gehl (16th, 22:56) and Jacob Boerboom (21st, 23:37).
Five Pipestone Area runners placed among the top ten individuals.
TMB's Matt Lavoy was the medalist in 19:17. The Panthers also had efforts from Ben Alberg (13th, 22:30), Nick Timmerman (15th, 22:51), Logan Axford (17th, 23:04), Nathan Wieme (18th, 23:14), Nathan Przybilla (19th, 23:27), Christian Devereaux (20th, 23:36), Tyler Illg (22nd, 24:43) and Myer Van Essen (23rd, 24:53).

TMB knocks off Pipestone Area
PIPESTONE - Tracy-Milroy-Balaton placed five runners among the top 11 as the Panthers defeated Pipestone Area 41-50 on Monday.
TMB's Cassandra Hook was the runner-up in 17:04. She was 11 seconds behind race winner Angel Martins (16:53), of Pipestone Area.
The Panthers also had Sarita Hook (fifth, 18:07), Morgan Hoffbeck (eighth, 19:12), Kristin Vogl (tenth, 19:51) and Alyssa Gleis (11th, 20:03) finish in the top 11 individuals.
Other Panthers to compete in the race were McKynna Cochran (12th, 20:08), Hannah Brockway (13th, 20:12), Courtney Homer (14th, 20:14), Kendra Nelson (16th, 20:48) and Ellie Tiges (19th, 21:39).
Murray County Central had four runners in the race, but could not compete in the team standings.
The Rebels were led by Melissa Gehl, who ended up fourth in 18:06. Maddie Dibble finished sixth in 18:16, followed by Lizzette Garza (ninth, 19:38) and Sariah Cheadle (15th, 20:37).
Watertown 34, Marshall 16
WATERTOWN, S.D. - Marshall scored in the second and fourth quarters of a 34-16 junior varsity football loss at Watertown on Monday.
Matt Thompson put the Tigers (1-4 overall) on the scoreboard after making a 3-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Nick Saugstad caught Aaron Poljewski's two-point conversion pass, but MHS trailed 14-8 at halftime.
Watertown scored two third-quarter TDs to increase its lead to 28-8. Watertown added a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Marshall scored in the final quarter on a 48-yard TD run by Jacob Deines, who followed that with a two-point conversion pass to Thompson.
Marshall is back on the gridiron at Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Monday.
