To the editor:
I would like to relay my sincere apologies to all spectators of this year's 2013 Homecoming Talent Show and Coronation, as well as to the community of Marshall and Marshall Public Schools in general. Each year the acts are screened, through a process of signing a contract and getting the music that they are using approved. In addition, a script for the entire night is drawn up and given to all involved.
This year, a song slipped into the program which was not approved, and another part of the program used some language that was not tasteful. While we like to encourage creativity in our students at Marshall High School, we do want the entire program to be tasteful to viewers of all ages.
Plans are being put into place for the next performances and all parties have been dealt with accordingly. I, personally, would like to apologize to anyone who was offended by any part of the program that evening and I will do my best to make sure that each public performance from this point on is appropriate for all listeners and viewers.
If anyone has any suggestions for how I, as the adviser, can make this evening more enjoyable for the audience, please send a note to me at Marshall High School, 400 Tiger Drive, Marshall, MN 56258.
Again, I am truly sorry to all who were offended during the evening and I will work hard to make sure that it does not happen in the future.
I truly hope the few blunders for the evening did not overshadow all the true talent of the evening, such as the high amount of talent during the talent show and the amount of time the candidates, emcees and student council members put into making and editing the videos for this special night!
Marshall High School Student Council adviser
