Jamie Lanners, housing manager, and Tiffany Thooft, RN, of Boulder Creek Assisted Living/Stepping Stone Home Health, attended "What Would You Do if It Were your Mother," a dementia capability training for caregiver consultants on Nov. 14 and 15 in Mankato. Currently, there are nearly 100,000 Minnesotans with Alzheimer's Disease, and that number is expected to soar in the next 20 years. Caregiver Consultants are on the front line, helping families and patients understand and manage disease symptoms. "What would you do if it were your mother?" provides caregiver consultants the skills and understanding needed to provide the kind of care each of us would want for our own mothers, fathers, husbands and wives. This education focused on understanding the latest in dementia science, early identification, early care, care planning and special issues like younger onset disease. This event was sponsored by the Minnesota Board on Aging, ACT on Alzheimer's and the Alzheimer's Association Minnesota/Dakota Chapter.
