BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Rabbits survive for win at Sleepy Eye

SLEEPY EYE - The Wabasso boys basketball team erased a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat Sleepy Eye 76-75 in Tomahawk Conference action Tuesday night in Sleepy Eye.

Neil Eichen, who led the Rabbits with 35 points, gave Wabasso the one-point lead, hitting one of his three free throw attempts with under five seconds left in the game.

Tanner Bock had a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double in the win while Matt Zeug and Beau Taylor added 12 and 10 respectively.

Wabasso will be in action again on Friday when they travel to Fulda.

CANBY - The Canby boys basketball team remained undefeated with a 55-49 win over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.

Josh Gallegos recorded a double-double for the Lancers with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Gallegos also contributed four steals and two blocks. Kristian Leppke added 15 points, with nine from beyond the arc.

The Panther's offensive leaders were Josh Kirk and Spencer Smith, each with 13 points. Riley Kirk had nine points and six rebounds in the effort.

The Lancers will play RTR Thursday in a Camden conference battle and TMB travels to Minneota on Friday.

TYLER - Brett Vercruysse posted a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights to a 66-54 Camden Conference victory over Lakeview Tuesday in Tyler.

Brett Knudsen also contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals for RTR, while Brett Peterson chipped 22 points and four assists. Isaiah DeRuyter also reached double figures, scoring 10 points and dishing out four assists as well.

Jaden Hoffman also had a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards to lead the Lakers. Hoffman also dished out three assists and blocked three shots. Jonah Dovre added 15 points, five blocks and three assists.

RTR will host Canby on Thursday. Lakeview will host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Monday.

Windom Area 103, WWG 82

WINDOM - The Windom Area Eagles soared to a 101-82 victory over Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove was led by Shane Buchman with 33 points and Alex Knutson added 26.
