GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Forsell FT sinks Yellow Medicine East

KERKHOVEN - With two seconds left in overtime Kalli Forsell sunk a free throw to push KMS to a 56-55 win over YME.

After a hard fought battle in regulation the Fighting Saints and Sting were locked up in a 49-all tie. In overtime, the lead switched hands several times before KMS was able to close-out.

Leading the Fighting Saints was Maddi Strandberg with 18 points and six steals, while Forsell contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Kelly Anderson paced the Sting with 14 points, seven rounds and two assists in the effort. Chyanne Sand followed with 13 points, four steals and two assists.

YME takes on BOLD on Tuesday.

MCC 68, Edgerton 53

SLAYTON - A double-double performance by Morgan Behrends lifted MCC to a 68-53 victory over Edgerton. Behrends scored 17 points and pulled-in 12 rebounds to lead the Rebels to victory.

MCC also had three other players scoring in double-digits including Jade Giese with 17, Rebekah Nysetvold with 16 and Sierra Van Iperen with ten. Van Iperen also contributed seven rebounds and five steals in the victory.

Edgerton was led by Tanner Gunnick who also had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Breanna Nelson added three steals and two assists in the effort.

MCC will face Pipestone Area on Saturday.

WESTBROOK - Red Rock Central moved to 2-0 overall with a 72-47 Red Rock Conference win at Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Tuesday.

Ramsey Piotter had a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Falcons. Brooke Rasmussed scored 18 points for RRC, which received 17 points from Rachel Kedl.

Dayna Comnick led WWG with 17 points, while Emma Woelber chipped in 11.
