NCAA VOLLEYBALL: Mustangs ranked seventh in final poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team received the No. 7 ranking in the final installment of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top 25 Poll.

The Mustangs finished the season 24-8 and advanced to their 10th straight NCAA tournament.

Concordia-St. Paul won its unprecedented seventh straight NCAA National Championship to earn 1,199 total points, 47 first-place votes, and the No. 1 spot in the poll.

Tampa, which lost to the Golden Bears in the NCAA quarterfinal match, came in at No. 2 with 1,121 votes. BYU-Hawai'i (1,096), Minnesota Duluth (1,071) and West Texas A&M (992) rounded out the top five. Central Missouri (947) came in just ahead of SMSU at No. 6.

Other NSIC schools ranked in the poll were No. 21 Wayne State (Neb.) and No. 23 Northern State.

SMSU was ranked in all 12 weekly editions of the poll this season and has now been ranked for 105 consecutive weeks, dating back to Sept. 5, 2006.
