BOYS BASKETBALL: Blackjacks claim CM/C tourney title

The Cedar Mountain/Comfrey Holiday Tournament and the Subway/State Farm Classic were completed on Saturday.

MORGAN - Class A No. 4 Dawson-Boyd collected a pair of wins this past weekend at the Cedar Mountain/Comfrey tournament in Morgan.

The Blackjacks picked up a 78-56 victory against Madelia on Friday and followed up wit a 57-42 win over Heritiage Christian Saturday to improve their season record to 7-0.

Against the Madelia Blackhawks, Michael Lee contributed 24 points and 12 rebounds for D-B, while Joey Lee tallied 20 points and six assists. Zach Stratmoen scored 10 points and Kyler Collins added five points and seven boards.

Dawson-Boyd shot and made more free throws than the Eagles in the Saturday contest, going 20-27 while Heritage Christian was 8-11 as a team. Joey Lee went 13-for-15 at the line and contributed a game-high 25 points for the Blackjacks. He also had nine rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Michael Lee posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards to go with two assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

The Blackjacks are back in action at home on Saturday against Ortonville.

MILBANK - Despite holding a 27-25 halftime lead, the Canby Lancers were unable to come up with a win, falling 61-52 against Langford (S.D.) Saturday at the Subway/State Farm Classic in Milbank (S.D.).

Josh Gallegos posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lancers. Zach Nuy chipped in 14 points, while Kristian Leppke had 11. Michael Slaba added eight points and eight assists.

Canby travels to Brookings, S.D., on Tuesday to play Elkton/Lake Benton.
