PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: RTR stops Rebels in non-league tilt

SLAYTON - The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton boys basketball team defeated Murray County Central 68-61 in Slayton on Thursday.

Brett Peterson led all scorers with 23 points for the Knights. Brett Vercruysse scored 21 while Brett Knudsen added 17 in the win.

Jaden Boerboom led the Rebels with 18 while Grant Everson and Grant Rohrer scored 14 and 15 respectively.

RTR will play host to Lac qui Parle Valley tonight while MCC will travel to Westbrook to face Westbrook-Walnut Grove next Tuesday.

RUSSELL-TYLER-RUTHTON (6-2 OVERALL): Brett Knudsen 7 0-1 17, Brett Peterson 8 6-8 23, Frankie Gecevic 1 0-0 2, Isaiah DeRuyter 2 1-3 5, Brett Vercruysse 9 3-4 21. TOTALS: 27 10-17 (59%) 68.

Canby 45, Quad County 17

GRANITE FALLS - The Canby Lancers picked up a 45-17 win on the road Thursday against Quad County.

Quentin Beiningen, Travis Dinius, Cole Regnier, Christian Full, Adam Evenson and Gavin Benz all earned pins for Canby. Wyatt Johansen won a sudden victory over his opponent, while Jack Citrowske and Michael Petersen both won by decision.

Colten Specht and Dylan Johnson picked up wins by major decision for Quad County, while Jake Roiger, Ethan Thein and Kirby Winson all won by decision.
